Pa

Heres a new painting. This is my father from a photo in the early eighties. I did this for my mother for christmas and although really emotional she loved it. Drawing this for me too was very emotional but once I got the drawing down I flew throught the painting in about 6 hours (2 sessions). Painting is always an amazing process when it flows like this one did. I think its really just a matter of getting out of your own way. Hope you all like it.

New Painitng

A new painting of a friend of mine Chaz Obrien.
Acrylic on canvas 18"x24"

PA

My father passed away on7/8/09. It has been an up and down past few months intellectually, emotionally and creatively. I have some new ideas for my personal art, not that any art I make isnt personal but I mean more in terms of my non-commercial work. I hope to be doing lots of new work this upcoming year in 2010. Its a landmark year and I think I want to contribute.
Heres a collage I made for my dad. I took this to burning man this year and burned it in effigy at the temple along with so many others who found some comfort in their loss by doing the same.

inspired by my pa:

Raised in the watery breath of the soil.
Humid labor.
The strength of those that worked this land so that we all may thrive.

Much love and por vida.

Some past work from Dreamworks

For some of you to see just what I do over here at dreamworks. These pieces represent the type of illustration I am asked to do, mainly color keys and prop design. This type of art is what we do once we are in production however we do work thats a bit rougher and more exploratory before this stage and ill try and get some of that kind of work up sometime . This work is a collection from Shrek 3, Shrek the Halls and Madagascar. Enjoy!

Check back in a week for an update with some stuff from the brand new action packed, krak -a- lakin madagascar 2! In theatres everywhere November 4th!

what a whore, I know.

For realsies

So Im gonna be posting some arts n crafts here from time to time starting.......now. Heres some Live painting I did at various clubs in san francisco (1015, mighty, temple) Done over the past year with my friends of The Fringe. These were all done on different nights approx 2 hours more or less with little to no light or strong red club light resulting is random colors and impercise brush strokes....but that was the fun part.

First Posting

This is for Erwin Madrid the most bad ass blogger I know, yes I do know him and yes I do know how lucky I am...
